This year I took part in the 24 Hour Comic Day this year. I've been meaning to do it for some time but I've always had a show the day of the event and for some reason it just didn't seem special not doing it on the day of the event, like having a birthday party on a day that isn't your birthday.

It was a very interesting experience and I learned a lot. I tried a lot of new techniques and it was very liberating to step outside of the way I usually do comics. The lettering is done by hand, the speech balloons I made on lable paper and then stuck them on the drawings. The inking was done with a brush pen. I figured if I used regular pens I'd run the risk of getting bogged down with detail. I can't do much fine detail with a brush so it forced me to keep the art simplistic. I actually had the comics penciled and inked in 12 hours, then the other 12 hours was spent colouring and doing the text. I didn't count the time it took me to scan the images in the production of the comic. With my computer it takes forever to scan an image at 400 dpi.

All in all it was a very rewarding experience and I look forward to it again next year.
